Promise

When a member is invested and becomes a member of the Scouting family, part of the ceremony is to make their Promise. The promise is one to follow a set of principles that reflect the values of the Scouting movement. This promise might also be renewed at several points during the Scouting journey.

Scouts is open to people of all faiths and of none. We have different variations of our Promise, so everyone can make a Promise that means something to them, no matter their background or belief.

Each section has a different version of the Promise appropriate to the age range. The Christian and atheist/no faith versions are included below, but the full range of options can be found on the Scouts website.

Cub Scout Law

The Cub Scout Law is a few simple rules that we ask every cub to try to keep.

Cub Scouts always do their best,
think of others before themselves
and do a good turn every day.
